Tips for maintaining oral health in children

As the prevailing proverb says, “Prevention is better than cure.” Therefore, the best way to enjoy white and healthy teeth is to avoid the appearance of problems instead of treating them later. Below we provide the necessary tips for maintaining oral health in children:

1. Brushing your teeth from an early age

The majority of women believe that cleaning and caring for the mouth does not begin until the teeth appear. This is a mistake because oral health begins from infancy, and there is no harm in cleaning the gums using gauze and then cleaning the tooth cavities when they emerge.

2. Brush teeth at least twice a day

Children should brush their teeth 3 times a day using a very small amount of toothpaste when they wake up, after lunch and after dinner, making sure to clean the tongue and the upper surface of the mouth and passing the brush over the corners and gums, paying special attention to the molars.

3. Avoid eating too many sweets

Children are allowed to eat sweets in moderation to avoid harm, especially since sweets usually stick to the teeth, and if the child does not brush his teeth after eating them, sugar can damage the teeth and cause cavities.

4. Follow a balanced diet

A balanced diet reflects on oral health and health in general, and we recommend including foods rich in calcium, phosphorus and fluorine so that your child has strong and healthy teeth!

5. Focus on drinking water

Encourage your child to constantly drink water instead of manufactured drinks because they are rich in sugars that stick to the mouth and can cause various problems.

6. Visit the dentist regularly

Children should undergo a dental examination at least once a year. The doctor will also provide you with necessary guidance to achieve the best care for your child's mouth.
