The Council of Economic and Development Affairs held a remote working session via video. During this meeting, the Council reviewed a group of reports and topics on the agenda. Among these topics, the periodic presentation presented by the Ministry of Economy and Planning on local and international economic developments was discussed, which included a detailed analysis of the latest international and geoeconomic challenges and indicators.
The presentation included details about the progress achieved by national economic indicators, including the continued growth of positive indicators for the non-oil sectors in the Kingdom, despite global economic difficulties. The presentation also touched on the continued positive impact of investment spending on major project plans and its support for the private sector.
During the meeting, the Council reviewed the presentation submitted by the Strategic Management Office of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, which dealt with the comprehensive report on the programs to achieve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 for the third quarter of the year 2023. This report provided a detailed overview of the performance of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs, highlighting the most important Achievements and future aspirations. The presentation also indicated continued progress in program performance during the third quarter of this year, in all three axes of the vision: a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation, with an increase recorded in the percentage of completed initiatives and achieved indicators compared to the previous quarter.
The Council also reviewed another presentation presented by the Strategic Management Office, related to the achievements of setting targets for key performance indicators for the first and second-level objectives within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030. This presentation highlights the progress made in defining and implementing the main strategic objectives of the vision, and highlights the important steps that have been taken towards... Achieving the general and specific goals of the vision.
The Council also discussed the presentation made by the National Center for Measuring the Performance of Public Agencies, which addressed the performance of these agencies during the third quarter of 2023. The presentation included a detailed analysis of the performance of public agencies in achieving their goals, in addition to evaluating the performance of national strategies and future aspirations. The report showed that the detailed performance of public agencies’ indicators witnessed continued improvement, as the percentage of vision indicators achieving their goals reached 75%, which represents the highest percentage of achievement since the beginning of the measurement process.
In light of these issues, the Council of Economic and Development Affairs made a series of necessary recommendations. These recommendations aim to enhance progress and ensure the achievement of the goals set in Saudi Vision 2030, including improving the performance of public agencies and enhancing national development strategies.
